Week 6, Part II

Activated Gates – Throat Center

About Gates: each one represents a different archetypal theme. Every gate/theme is inherently neutral and can be experienced or expressed in either beneficial/positive or detrimental/negative ways. Everyone experiences all gates/themes in different ways throughout their lifetime.

I have four activated Throat Gates, which means that the signals I transmit to the world about self-expression, authenticity, and activation/manifestation will be  strongest for the themes of these Gates.

Resiliency keys for all Throat Gates are authenticity and vitality.

Clicking on the Gate will take me to the I Ching description of the archetype, which offers guidance on the atmosphere of transitioning from novice to wise expression.

12: Gate of the Channel(with Lines 4 & 5)

Articulation & Transformation

Misalignment key: depression, breathing problems

Novice Expression (“Caution”)

• Struggling to speak ideas into form when it’s not the right time
• Letting hesitancy and caution paralyze me
• Trying to force ideas and words

Lessons/Challenges (“Standstill“)

• To honor my Self enough to wait for the right time and mood to speak
• To recognize that shyness is actually a signal that the timing isn’t right to share transformational insights and expressions
• To have the courage to share what I feel and sense when the timing IS right
• To honor the fact that my voice and the words I offer are a direct connection to Source and I channel the potential for transformation
• To own my creative power

Wisdom and Optimal Expression (“The Channel”)

• Knowing that my voice is a vehicle of higher insight and expression that enables transformation
• Recognizing that the insights and creativity I share, including the words I speak, have the power to change others and the world – that people must be ready to receive energy this powerful
• Understanding that when the time is right, I’ll find that I’m articulate
• Recognizing that if I’m struggling for words, the time isn’t right to share
• Having the courage to wait for alignment
• Powerful ability to craft language and creative expressions that change people’s perceptions

Driving Force: What motivates me – 12.5

This is one of the themes that will motivate me to do what I do. It also reflects what I need to feel a sense of security. I’ll be less aware of this theme, but the desire to impact the world with the words I speak will be part of what drives me. Additionally, having my voice recognized and valued contributes to my sense of security.

I may not fully recognize this driving force until my 3rd stage of Line 6, by which point I’ll have become more deliberate with the words I choose to use and mindful of the impact I want to have. I will also have learned to value my voice and, in turn, to select relationships and situations that recognize the value of my voice. My more conscious theme will be found in Gate 29 of my Intuitive Center, and I’ll want to consider how the two Gates work together.

The learning modality I’ll experience will be through Line 5, the Visionary Leader, which involves universalizing the theme. Others will project their experience of this theme onto me and see me as either a savior or demon, depending on their own maturity (novice vs. wisdom). When expressing myself from this Gate, I’ll likely feel that others don’t hear/see me for who I truly am and/or don’t value the insights I share. Mastery through this modality means finding the people who do perceive my value in this area rather than misinterpreting and/or dismissing what I have to say.

A bit of insight from the I Ching (linked to Gate name above) that might give a clue about navigating the change from novice expression to wisdom – I’ll know if/when it becomes useful:

Line 5 – As soon as the situation starts to loosen up, it will be clear that the wait was worth it. But when it happens, better to proceed with alertness and caution than to rush right into the breach trailing your enthusiasm and relief. New times need solid foundations, and solid foundations can be built joyously – still, they are built one brick at a time.

Protection: Where I receive rewards & blessings – 12.4

This Gate is also part of my Protection theme – the one I’ll be more aware of, in this case. This means that mastering challenges (especially in my Discipline themes) will bring rewards and blessings in the area of transforming others through expression of my insights. Due to the Line 4, these rewards will also contribute to development of a stable and secure foundation. The most likely blessing may be that I find the right place and people to be seen, heard, and valued for who I am.

Discipline and Protection themes are interdependent. Together, they create a dynamic of self-empowerment. Discipline-themed challenges are opportunities to learn the knowledge and skills that will enable me to cultivate Protection-themed rewards and blessings that reduce struggle in those areas of my life. In other words, Discipline shows up in my life to teach me how to create Protection in my life.

For instance, if the blessing is the right place/people, then I won’t simply land in the right place or with the right people. Through overcoming Discipline challenges, I’ll learn to value the right place/people, how to recognize it when I find it, and how to protect it when I have it. To borrow an old adage, Protection themes are fish and Discipline-themed challenges teach me the art of fishing.

A bit of insight from the I Ching (linked to Gate name above) that might give a clue about navigating the change from novice expression to wisdom – I’ll know if/when it becomes useful:

Line 4 – There are some people whose energy is actually ideally suited to go into a stuck situation and unstick it. But along with the brute strength that is sometimes needed for such an effort, a delicate touch is also required. Otherwise everybody can just freeze in place even more, like animals caught unexpectedly in the headlights of a car. If you’ve got the right combination of skills, then go for it. But stay mindful of all the nuances lest your good intentions be misunderstood.

Channel of Grace

Gate 12 is part of the Channel of Grace (aka, Openness), which is completed by the Gate of Surrender (22). I won’t have an electromagnetic pull toward people with Gate 22 activated because my Throat Center is activated rather than receptive. I’ll learn more about my Gate’s theme when I’m in a relationship with someone who has Gate 22 activated, but these relationships will have a less prominent role in fulfilling my purpose than relationships with electromagnetic connections.

With the full Channel activated, “right timing” for the Gate 12 is determined by the mood cycle of the Creative Center. Since I have a receptive Creative Center, I don’t have my own mood cycle. Instead, I’ll pick up on and amplify the mood cycles of those who do have an activated Creative Center. Right timing for me will be determined by my Intuitive Center, since that’s my inner authority. Relationships that complete this Channel will teach me about the experience of mood cycles and their impact (more about that in the section about my Creative Center), and it will be important for me to remember to prioritize responses from my Intuitive Center over any mood cycle I may pick up on and amplify.

Since this channel forms a connection from the Creative Center to the Throat, I’ll feel inspired to express my emotions and how I’m feeling in those relationships, as will the other person. Since I have a receptive Creative Center, I’ll feel prompted to express what I’m picking up from the activated Creative Centers of others in my life.

Without awareness of how my receptive Creative Center works, it will seem as though the moods/feelings I’m experiencing are mine and express them as though they are mine when engaging with people who have Gate 22 activated. With wisdom, I’ll recognize what I’m picking up from others and completion of this Channel will allow me to speak for others and be sensitive to their sense of right timing.

The novice expression of this Channel is low-frequency emotional expression that brings others down – or breaks others down – instead of lifting and building them up. When I form a complete Channel through relationship, the lessons for me to learn are to trust in right/divine timing, to know that my creative expression has the power to transform others and the world for better or worse, to use this power wisely and judiciously, and to be a change agent for higher good.

Wisdom and optimal expression of this Channel includes transformation through self-expression and creative emotional/mood alignment, using language and creative expression to align people with a higher expression of possibility, and creating beyond limitations when emotional/mood alignment and timing are correct. Wise expression will serve me well in fulfilling my role model purpose.

Contemplations

    1. Have I experienced this theme in relationships? Where did the expression fall from novice to wise? What have I learned?
    2. How has shyness caused me to judge myself?
    3. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to cultivate a deeper connection with Source?
    4. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to my awareness for me to connect more deeply with my creative power?
(These questions are designed to put out into the universe as a request to be shown answers. It’s a good one to ask before meditating or going to sleep).

If I want more insight, I can always request a message from the universe.
