Week 7, Part III

Activated Gates – Creativity Center

About Gates: each one represents a different archetypal theme. Every gate/theme is inherently neutral and can be experienced or expressed in either beneficial/positive or detrimental/negative ways. Everyone experiences all gates/themes in different ways throughout their lifetime.

I have three activated Creativity Gates, which means that these aspects of emotion/mood and my sense of emotional wisdom will be less variable.

Clicking on the Gate will take me to the I Ching description of the archetype, which offers guidance on the atmosphere of transitioning from novice to wise expression.

30: Gate of Passion (with Line 6)

Theme: Intensity; the need for passion as drive to create

Resiliency keys: emotional wisdom, courage, empowerment, decisiveness, vitality

Since my receptive Creativity Center creates the urge to please others at the expense of my own happiness and wellbeing, my activated Gates will be the areas in which I’m most likely to see this challenge play out. This Gate carries a deep need to follow my passion; in novice expression, I’ll likely feel torn between the need to follow my passion and the pressure to please others.

I can’t truly devote myself to anything that holds no passion for me. If I try to intellectually commit to something out of obligation, it will eventually fail. Neglecting my need for passion in all areas of my life will inevitably lead to burnout and abandonment. I shouldn’t hold this against myself; failure only happens because I’m not wired for work, relationships, etc. that lack passion. The failure is my signal that I need to follow my passion.

Since this Gate has line 6, my development in this theme will be tied to the development of the line 6 in my Profile. It may be passion that brings me out of stage 2 and into stage 3.

Focus:  In each area of my life, I will have the greatest success when I respect my need for passion and follow what inspires that passion in me.

Novice Expression (“Desire”)

• Burnout
• Impatience and not waiting for the right timing
• Misdirected passion that is perceived by others as too much intensity
• Leaping into chaos

Lessons/Challenges (“Clinging Fire“)

• To be able to sustain a dream or vision without burning out
• To know which dream to be passionate about
• To not let passion overwhelm me and to wait for the right timing to share my passion with the world

Wisdom and Optimal Expression (“Passion”)

• Sustaining a dream, intention, and a vision until I bring it into form
• Inspiring others with the power of my dream
• Inspiring passion in others

Communication: What I’m here to share with others – 30.6

Quite simply, I’m here to share my passion with others. Once I’ve gained the wisdom to embrace my passionate nature and allow myself to express it without guilt or shame, I’ll inspire passion and self-expression in others. Setting myself free from repressive influences will open others’ eyes to their own ability to set themselves free. The line 6 indicates that development of this theme will be tied to the line 6 of my Profile, and this will be part of what I model in my 3rd stage as an Adept.

A bit of insight from the I Ching (linked to Gate name above) that might give a clue about navigating the change from novice expression to wisdom – I’ll know if/when it becomes useful:

Line 6 – You may find yourself now in the position of being the only one who can perceive the nourishing and revitalizing potential in what seems to others to be an unhappy situation. Be gentle with those around you, and with yourself – your willingness to accept the changes with grace and forgiveness will inspire others to do the same.

Channel of Intention

Gate 30 is part of the Channel of Intention (aka, Fantasy & Desire). Since I don’t have the other Gate for this channel (41) activated in my circuitry, I’ll be electromagnetically drawn toward people who do, and I’ll live out the theme of this Gate in those relationships. People who have a hanging Gate 41 will be equally drawn to me and the relationship will be a learning experience for this channel for both of us. (If I’m in relationship with someone who has the full channel activated, I’ll be just as drawn toward them but that electromagnetic factor won’t be reciprocated, and it will be more of a learning experience for me than for them.)

Since this channel forms a connection from Creativity to Foundation, it reflects the relationship between emotional wisdom and vitality. Relationships that bring activation to this channel for me will also create the effects of activation in both my Foundation and Creativity Centers. It’s not true activation because it’ll only occur as part of our energetic interaction; the less I’m around the person, the less I’ll feel the sense of activation. If I grew up with Gate 41 activation in my family, I likely took on my sense of passion and inspired work from those relationships, whether novice or wise. If I was taught novice expression, I’ll gain wisdom and move toward maturity as I overcome challenges in my adult relationships.

This is a projected channel, which means that a person or relationship with this channel can be prone to projecting fantasies, illusions, or delusions. In other words, the person or people can imagine so intensely that it blurs the lines with reality.

The novice expression of this Channel is acting on a desire-based impulse without waiting for the right timing or feeling cut off from dreams/desires, which blocks my momentum. When I form a complete channel through relationship, the lessons for me to learn are to use the power of imagination to begin the creative process, the adroit use of imagination, and the ability to sustain a vision as a key element to manifesting and changing the patterns of my life.

Wisdom and optimal expression of this channel is the ability to envision an intention/dream and hold the emotional frequency of my passion until the timing is right to act on it, as well as working toward that time with trust that it will happen.

Non-activating Channel Influences

Gate 41

Pattern (41.5, more apparent) – This aspect represents where I’m tapped into the rhythm of the universe and have an ability to make meaning from abstract or symbolic information, particularly if there’s a technical aspect. It’s where I have a natural desire to understand the symbolic processes in my life at a cosmic level.

Having this influence in this channel means that my passion will likely be where I find common ground between the logical and feeling aspects of myself. When my head and my heart seem at odds about a decision, I can find my answer by looking at what inspires passion for me. It may seem paradoxical, but evaluating my level of passion (or potential to feel intensely about something) is actually how I can make sense of things that don’t seem to make logical sense on the surface.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 5 – You might be wondering why everybody else seems to be suffering so much from the need to simplify and cut back, while you find the same circumstances to be refreshingly in tune with your own inner rhythms. If so, celebrate your good fortune and do what you can to help others look at the rainbows rather than fixate on the clouds.

Affirmations for Wise Expression

• I am a passionate creator.
• I use the intensity of my passion to increase my emotional energy and sustain the power of my dream and what I imagine for life
• I trust in universal/Divine flow (Tao) and wait for the right timing and right circumstances to act on my dream.

Sound frequencies: listening while meditating on affirmations (or simply repeating them) can help with finding balance and healing.

Contemplations

    1. Have I experienced this theme in relationships? Where did the expression fall from novice to wise? What have I learned?
    2. What am I passionate about?
    3. Have I lost my passion?
    4. How is my energy? Am I physically burned out? Am I burned out on my idea/vision/dream?
    5. What do I need to do to sustain my idea/vision/dream about what I feel inspired to create in my life?
    6. Do I have a idea/vision/dream that I’m avoiding because I’m afraid it won’t come true?
    7. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to my awareness for me to move forward with courage and faith?
    8. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to my awareness for me to act/create deliberately, avoid identifying with others’ emotional energy, and ask for what I want and need?
    9. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to my awareness for me to feel powerful in all aspects of my life?
    10. What needs to be healed, released, aligned, and/or brought to my awareness for me to make clear and strong choices?
(These questions are designed to put out into the universe as a request to be shown answers. It’s a good one to ask before meditating or going to sleep. Tapping on the center of my forehead while I ask the question(s) will help provide a physical signal to myself of my intention to process this while sleeping).

If I want more insight, I can always request a message from the universe.
