Surprises

What strengthens my faith (expect the unexpected): 1.4 & 1.1

The theme of Gate 1 (Purpose) will highlight ways that I and/or my experiences differ from the mainstream. Experiences with Gate 1 will help to strengthen my faith and will also bring surprises to my life. For instance, the career I pursue may change significantly during my life and the change may come as a surprise. I’m likely to experience events while pursuing my career (or anything that has a sense of purpose for me) that feel like divine intervention and are intended to strengthen my faith (i.e., the universe showing me that there’s more to existence than the material world and that it’s working in my favor, even when it doesn’t seem that way).

More Conscious: 1.4

The most obvious learning I’ll experience will be through Line 4 modalities (same as the Line 4 description in my profile), which means the theme of Purpose will have a strong emphasis on stability while navigating change and be experienced via relationships. Since I’m likely to experience the unexpected, the theme of Purpose will challenge my need for stability and help me cultivate my inner stability that allows me to navigate changes.

A bit of insight from the I Ching (linked to Gate name above) that might give a clue about navigating the change from novice expression to wisdom – I’ll know if/when it becomes useful:

Line 4 – Remain flexible. A fear of failure will undermine the exhilarating experience of personal empowerment and expansiveness that naturally accompanies the energy of Gate 1. Let your intuition guide you; if it feels right in your gut, then it is right.

Less Conscious: 1.1

Line 1 is the Investigator: driven by curiosity to gather information and knowledge and must overcome the fear of the unknown or of not knowing enough. This is another way I’ll learn about this theme, although it may be less obvious to me. For instance, when I experience dramatic changes in my career, it’ll likely introduce the fear of the unknown or not knowing enough, which will underscore the more obvious Line 4 challenges.

A bit of insight from the I Ching (linked to Gate name above) that might give a clue about navigating the change from novice expression to wisdom – I’ll know if/when it becomes useful:

Line 1 – Action is unnecessary. Patiently prepare the way for the new to appear; it will bring increased understanding and support.

Ultimately, it all sums up this way: Part of my purpose is to explore themes of questioning my lovability for the sake of gaining wisdom to share with others. I’ll likely gain knowledge through experiences that take me by surprise. When I’m able to embrace the truth of my innate lovability and don’t allow unexpected changes to shift my knowledge of that truth, I’ll have cultivated the inner sense of stability that enabled truly secure foundations. I’ll also be able to live as an example for cultivating a strong sense of lovability as part of my role-model purpose.

Additional Subtle Influences

Duration (1.1, less apparent) – This aspect represents understanding when things need to begin and end and the courage to act as needed. It includes initiating something new, as well as releasing something when I’ve learned all I can from it or recognize it’s not in alignment with my Self and purpose. Knowing when enough is enough is included in this influence, as well as hesitancy to change. Information I gain via investigation (line 1) will contribute to my development of the line 4 in my Profile.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 1 – Action is unnecessary. Patiently prepare the way for the new to appear; it will bring increased understanding and support.

Identity (1.1, more apparent) – This aspect represents a struggle with finding my sense of identity. Personal success can be challenging as I lack confidence in my own abilities. Due to the presence of this influence in my receptive Heart, I may have defined myself by the people who surrounded me while growing up (childhood conditioning). I likely felt unseen and that I was living in the shadow of others. I likely lost myself and felt dwarfed by the attention needs of the personalities around me. Part of my purpose will be to heal my sense of identity through the wisdom I gain and by cultivating my sense of lovability.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 1 – Action is unnecessary. Patiently prepare the way for the new to appear; it will bring increased understanding and support.

Wholistic Wellbeing/Health (1.5, less apparent) – This aspect focuses on the importance of maintaining alignment as a means of prevention for physical, mental, and emotional health/wellness. Misalignment will create health issues for me, the remedy for which will require a return to truth, and living in alignment will be protective of my health/wellness. With this influence in Gate 1, the best way to protect my health is living authentically. I can be sure that any misalignment in my life will manifest as health issues, which makes this a reliable source of signals for when course correction is needed.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 5 – Being in tune with Purpose illuminates and gives definition to your life. Allow yourself the time and space to absorb and honor what is happening for you. This enlightened quality radiates effortlessly and attracts others to you; be gracious in sharing the gifts that are so abundantly offered by existence now.

Fidelity (1.5, more apparent) – This aspect indicates the classic “commitment issues.” Having it in an active gate means it’s part of what I’m here to master. Having it in Gate 1 means it influences my purpose and my sense of lovability. The learning arc has stages: at first, relationships with emotional connection will provoke fear due to my struggles with lovability and commitment and fidelity will be problematic for me.

Eventually, the burden of guilt/regret will lead me to repress my emotional needs and loss, committing to a relationship that doesn’t meet my emotional needs, possibly because the lack of emotional connection provokes less fear and/or due to the belief that I don’t deserve it. This is especially likely if I try to bypass self-forgiveness with a new relationship; self-forgiveness is too important to my well-being for the universe to let me skip that step. I’ll repeat the pattern of infidelity until I finally heal my sense of lovability, respect my emotional needs, and cultivate a relationship that includes emotional connection and respect for my needs.

Having this influence in the Gate of Purpose means that I’m designed to master the theme of Fidelity. With Line 5, any difficulties I’ve experienced are because I’m designed to learn through experience. What I learn will enable me to benefit others as a role model. Mastery of this influence will rely on my ability to recognize that it’s all part of what I came here to do, that the experiences have value, and to forgive myself. Another factor of the line 5 is that others will project their issues with fidelity and commitment onto me. The healthy relationship I cultivate in mastery of this influence will see for who I am, including the value of the learning experiences in my history.

Recognition (1.6, more apparent) – This aspect represents personal problems that go unseen by others and the tendency to disown what I’ve been unable to explain to others. The novice expression can show up as buying into the busyness of the world that drowns out what we’re carrying but can’t communicate. As a Time Bender who already needs to keep busy, it’ll be important for me to develop attention and awareness to not let the value of what’s unique about me fall by the wayside when it’s not recognized by those around me. This influence is tied into my line 6 profile, so part of my purpose will be to hold fast to what I know to be true even if others can’t see it and/or I can’t explain it.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 6 – Hunger for success will distort clarity and create arrogant behavior. The nature of Tao is to restore balance: in this case, by bursting the overinflated bubble of ego and its aspirations, and returning you to earth. You’ll experience a fall – but it is in the nature of things that this is how we learn. This fall will lead you to mastery of the energy of The Creative and aid you as a role model.

Boundaries (1.6, more apparent) – This aspect represents cultivating strong boundaries around my personal values, including the ability to defy any attempts by people or situations to violate those boundaries. This influence is tied into my line 6 profile, so cultivating this ability will support me in living as a role model.

Disruption (1.6, more apparent) – There are a number of Disruption influences in every chart that signal themes of particular importance to my purpose. This marker indicates areas that are more likely to trigger chaotic events when necessary to bring me back into alignment. The line 6 means this influence will help keep me on track with my profile development. If I find myself in a time of stagnation, “stuck between a rock and a hard place,” struggling to make a decision, this can signal an impending disruption event that I can avoid by choosing deliberately, which can make the changes easier to handle.

Since this Gate is also influenced by the theme of Surprises, Disruption in this area is even more likely, especially between the ages of 42 and 46, which could be a disruptive period lasting several years. The good news is that this period of disruption will ultimately bring me back into alignment with my purpose and a satisfying future.

Channel of Self-Fulfillment

Gate 1 is part of the Channel of Self-Fulfillment. Since the other Gate for this channel (8) isn’t active in my circuitry, I’ll be electromagnetically drawn toward people who do, and I’ll live out the theme of this Gate in those relationships. People who have a hanging Gate 8 will be equally drawn to me and the relationship will be a learning experience for this channel for both of us. (If I’m in relationship with someone who has the full channel active, I’ll be just as drawn toward them but that electromagnetic factor won’t be reciprocated, and it will be more of a learning experience for me than for them.)

Since this channel forms a connection from the Heart to the Throat, I’ll feel inspired to speak my truth from my Heart in those relationships, as will the other person – whether or not we act on that inspiration will depend on how much we’ve matured in expressing those Gates.

Relationships that bring activation to this channel for me will also create the effects of activation in my Heart Center. It’s not true activation because it’ll only occur as part of our energetic interaction; the less I’m around the person, the less I’ll feel the sense of activation.

In other words, if I have a relationship with someone who has the Gate 8 active and spend a lot of time with them, I’ll have a strong sense of identity, direction, and purpose. When I leave their company to engage with different people/groups, my experience of those things will become variable and inconsistent again. Spending more time in the former situation will provide a stable environment for developing a healthy sense of lovability; however, the variability I experience when I leave their company can create a lot of doubt and confusion about who I really am and whether or not I’m truly lovable.

I may feel and behave very differently when I’m not with the person. This can lead to a continuation of doubt and confusion when I’m with the person again, along with guilt or shame. The apparent contradictions can cause the relationship to make me question my lovability rather than supporting it.

This is an example of how awareness regarding what I’m experiencing and why has the potential to dispel self-harming beliefs I’ve had about myself, replacing them with the empowering truth and transforming my perception of my past, present, and future.

The novice expression of this channel is a fear of failing one’s life purpose. When I form a complete channel through relationship, the lesson for me to learn is that expressing my Authentic Self is the fulfillment of my life purpose, that I AM the contribution I’m here to give the world. Those relationships are likely to include the feeling of pressure to DO something to deserve that relationship, and the lesson to learn is that BEing my Authentic Self is all I need to bring to the relationship. Having this Gate active reinforces my profile as an Adept.

Wisdom and optimal expression of this channel includes:
• Expressing the fullness of my Authentic Self relentlessly and without compromise
• Living, leading, and transforming from the Heart of Who I Am
• Being able to articulate the Truth of Who I Am
• In being the fulfillment of the Self, I show others how to do the same.

Non-activating Channel Influences (my Gate 8)

Remembering (8.4, more apparent) – This aspect brings the influence of seeking out and uncovering significant truth. The concept of healing through remembering who I am – the pure, innocent soul who came into this life – is an aspect of this influence.

I Ching guidance for this influence, Line 4 – There are pros and cons to any union. Participating in a group means some things must be given up; yet, if your belly the attraction is strong enough, such a sacrifice can be a small price to pay for the enriching experience of fellowship. If the pull is not really strong, then it is best to go your own way. Be clear, though, that turning away now could mean you are passing up an opportunity, so consider the whole picture before making a move.
